On Monday, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton said that he believes that disability and reduced population results in economic stagnation, which quickly can turn into rampant drug use.

Sen. Cotton asserted that disabled Americans and the communities they live in often become involved in “social plagues” including meth and heroin use due to a complacent community attitude which makes disability benefits more than a “last resort” social program. Much like the move by Republicans to drug test welfare recipients, this assertion by the senator is yet another jab at the disabled and disadvantaged.
