Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Republican presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz decided to call for President Barack Obama to “come back and insult me to my face.”
President Obama criticized ideas like those Ted Cruz put forward that Syrian refugees should be screened by a religious test. President Obama said that plans to have such a test are “shameful” and “not American” as he spoke at the G20 summit in Turkey.
“If you want to insult me, you can do it overseas, you can do it in Turkey, you can do it in foreign countries. But I would encourage you, Mr. President, come back and insult me to my face,” said the self-professed Christian pacifist, Ted Cruz.
Cruz, obviously itching for a fight, went on to say he’d go toe-to-toe with Obama any time, any place.
“Let’s have a debate on Syrian refugees, right now. We can do it anywhere you want. I would prefer it in the United States and not overseas,” he said. “We’ll do it on any station.”
