During yesterday’s hearing to discuss the proposed Syrian pause bill which would place an additional hold on allowing refugees into the country, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) asked the outlandish question,”Can you identify for me a suicidal terrorist that was not a Muslim?”

King asked the question in a “gotcha” tone of voice which indicated that he not only believed he knew the answer, but that it made a strong point about Muslims and terrorists.

A buzz of disbelief swept the room and U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services Director Leon Rodriguez, who the question was directed towards, appeared visibly frustrated and in disbelief.

“I’m not even going to answer that question Congressman. What I can say is that we do our job, and if terrorists are attempting to gain admission to the United States, then we do our job to prevent them.”

King was simply trying to capitalize on growing anti-Muslim sentiment in the U.S. and echo the calls of so many other Republicans who believe we should only allow Christian Syrians into the nation.
