In Spotslyvania, Virginia, an innocuous town hall presentation turned hateful as a man interrupted a proposal for a new mosque with pointed fingers and hateful generalizations to a smattering of applause.
The local Muslim community began to outgrow their current mosque location, and therefore presented plans for a new mosque they intended to build on their property, a common occurrence at meetings like these. The response, however, was anything but common as a legion of hateful bigots silenced the man presenting his mosque plans shouting “every Muslim is a terrorist.”
“Shut your mouth. I don’t want to hear your mouth. I will do everything that I can do to keep you from doing what you’re doing. It will happen. That will happen.”
This incident is serious and sobering. Incidents of Islamophobia have rocketed since the attacks on Paris a week ago and it is no longer uncommon to hear people echo the sentiment expressed by this ignorant redneck in Virginia.
Hear the man spew his ignorance and arm yourself with the knowledge that this kind of hate exists in America.
