During this time of year in which we reflect and remember to be thankful for the many blessings we enjoy as Americans, now is a good time to reflect, too, on the blessings we take for granted in the world that humanity may one day have to live without: Like trees, and air, and an inhabitable planet.

The holidays usher in rampant consumerism in its most destructive form. Maybe before we all engage in the wasteful and harmful habits of the holiday season, we should take a moment to reflect what we are willingly and willfully doing to our planet and future generations.
