Stephen Colbert on the Late Show did an amazing job bringing levity to the current excitement surrounding the climate agreement reached in Paris. While politicians the world over celebrate the fact that they were finally able to reach a tentative and not at all legally binding conclusion, Colbert reminds us that the agreement is the absolute bare minimum, and not really worth a collective ‘hoorah.’

“Whoo! Hospitable for human life! Look how excited they are! I gotta say, that’s setting the bar about as low as it could possibly go. As your president I promise you, something will live.”

Colbert encouraged the future last tree in the world to work harder to process the greenhouse gasses being released by human activity; “You can do it, Piney! Breathe, boy, breathe!”

The way Colbert ends the segment is absolute gold.
