When you look at red states in America, one must wonder why they aren’t voting for the left. Many poor areas vote for politicians who want to slash the safety net. Wins by anti-government assistance politicians like Matt Bevin from Kentucky and Paul LePage from Maine are just two examples of voters that depend on the safety-net programs voting in some cases against their own interests.
