The Federal Bureau of Investigation has now gotten involved in the domestic terrorism event in rural Oregon on Monday as a number of armed men hole themselves up in the Federal building for Wildlife Preservation in an attempt to overthrow the government and steal federal lands for private use.
Harney County sheriff David M. Ward is calling the event a farce, saying that their original movement to “support local ranchers” was a lie.
“These men came to Harney County claiming to be part of militia groups supporting local ranchers, when in reality these men had alternative motives, to attempt to overthrow the county and federal government in hopes to spark a movement across the United States.”
The FBI issued a statement on Sunday, saying that it is now
“working with the Harney County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and other local and state law enforcement agencies.”
It is certainly appropriate that the federal government get involved, and many are also calling for the national guard to join the discussion as there is a looming threat of violence from the terrorist group.
