According to the Sheriff in the center of the Oregon occupation, David Ward, the FBI plans to prosecute the protesters for several federal charges once they leave the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.

Sheriff Ward had this to say about the situation on Tuesday.

“The bureau has assured me that those at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge will at some point face charges. They have an opportunity right now to work towards a better solution, and not face further charges.”

The group allegedly faces charges of sedition and treason against the United States along with charges for breaking and entering, carrying guns on federal property, and trespassing.

Sources have been saying that the FBI plans to cut the power to the Refuge for days now, but as of Thursday morning, the rebels continue to enjoy tax-payer funded electricity in the building they are illegally inhabiting.

This inaction does not instill a great deal of confidence in the FBI and the way that they are handing this event. If they are being this lenient with the group of rebels now, who is to say that they will really carry through their threats of federal charges?

It is understandable that they do not want to escalate the situation and take human life, but they are allowing this group to obtain exactly what they want and making the U.S. Government look like the fool.
