During Thursday’s Democratic debate, Senator Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton duked it out about who was more authentically Democratic, and who could most represent the will of the people. While Hillary performed admirably on issues of foreign policy, Sanders blew Clinton away on issues of integrity and practicing-what-you-preach.
One of these instances was when Sanders brought up the issue of campaign finance reform. One of the main tenants of Sanders’ campaign is repealing Citizens United, a law which allows corporate interests to invest massive sums of money into politics. Sanders took a moment during the debate to remind viewers that he , uniquely, has never taken a cent from corporate interest, instead raising a record amount of money from individual citizens.
“This is what the political revolution means.”
