If you hang around the internet long enough (and believe me, I have), you will occasionally see some idiot posing with a gun in a selfie. Whether they think it makes them look country or gangster or cool, they never seem to observe basic gun rules like not putting your finger on the trigger, putting the safety on, and never pointing a gun at something you don’t intend to kill.

Some would say, they’re just having some fun! They know to not do it with a loaded gun! They wouldn’t accidentally pull the trigger!

And yet, some idiot in Washington offed himself when his selfie gun pose went awry. The 43-year-old man had spent the day taking selfies with his girlfriend and his gun (how romantic), loading and unloading the gun several times during the day. Everything was fun and ammosexual until the man left a single bullet in the chamber in his gun. When the iphone camera snapped, so did the gun.

There is now one less gun-loving idiot in the world. This man shouldn’t have died, but he should have respected the danger that guns pose. This is what happens when we as a society forget and ignore the incredible danger that guns pose. There is a place in society for these weapons, but it should not be in the frame of your Instagram photo.
