31-year-old Jamie Gilt is a big gun fan – too bad she is also an irresponsible one.
Gilt was driving with her 4-year-old son in the car on Tuesday when he somehow got ahold of a loaded handgun and shot her in the back. It appears that the child was not buckled into a booster seat, which enabled him to get his hands on the loaded gun. The woman is in stable condition, but once she recovers she should be facing criminal charges.
Gilt, it turns out, is a strong pro-gun advocate with a Facebook page devoted to her gun-loving defensiveness. One might have guessed that someone so devoted to guns would engage in the hobby responsibly. Apparently not. Responsible gun-ownership means following a few simple rules, which Gilt completely and negligently ignored. She allowed her child to be unsupervised around a gun – a loaded one, at that. This is child endangerment, at the least.
