Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders joined Verizon wireless workers Wednesday morning who are striking outside of a Brooklyn Verizon.
Workers for the cell phone company across the country have taken to the streets after Verizon failed to negotiate new contracts with the workers’ union. Verizon employees contract expired more than eight months ago, and the unions had set a deadline of 6 a.m. today which Verizon failed to meet.
Sanders joined Verizon in similar picketing back in October.
Senator Sanders addressed the crowd of picketers, accusing Verizon of being yet another corporation working for their own interests rather than the interests of the workers. Sanders said that the picketers were not only standing up for their own rights but for the rights of millions of Americans who do not have unions to negotiate for their rights.
