With nearly all of the votes tallied, Hillary Clinton has been declared the clear winner for the Democratic primary in New York.
Currently, Clinton has 57.9 percent of the vote while opponent Bernie Sanders has 42.1 percent. New York state allocates its delegates proportionally, so though Sanders lost the state, he will still win over 100 delegates. Clinton will leave the state with around 140.
Momentum was behind Clinton headed into NY as polls have consistently shown her in the lead. The Sanders campaign worked hard in the state to make an impact.
Though many said they considered this Sanders real last chance at taking the lead, the campaign has said in the days leading into this primary that even if he does not get the majority of the delegates, he plans to take it to the convention. Only if Clinton gets a delegate majority without the use of Superdelegates will Sanders bow out.
