Sure, they make look cute and harmless, but toddlers are becoming increasingly dangerous as they are given greater access to firearms.

Don’t believe it? Just last year, the Washington Post discovered that about once a week in America, a toddler somewhere in the country was getting ahold of a firearm and causing a whole lot of damage. And though we haven’t even reached the halfway point of 2016, these pint-sized assassins have already exceeded last year’s figure.

Sadly, there have already been 23 toddler-related gun incidents in 2016 compared to just 18 this time last year.

What could be causing this? Well, clearly there are many irresponsible parents in 2016 who allow their weapons to be within reach of their young children. Could this be due to the uptick in gun ownership seen in recent years? Possibly.

Regardless of the cause, the solution should be simple. Gun owners have every right to own their guns, and buying a gun is just about the easiest thing one can do. But for heaven’s sake, if you are going to own a deadly weapon, properly store it and keep it away from your damned kids.
