Now that the primary is over on the Republican side, Donald Trump has shirked one of his most marketable attributes and chosen to accept campaign contributions in the general election.
Millions fell in love with Trump in part because of his mostly self-funded campaign in which the billionaire funnelled millions of his own money into the campaign. Most of that money was considered a loan which Trump hopes to earn back in the future. A SuperPAC also contributed unofficially to the Trump campaign, but for the most part, his campaign was “self-made.”
But coming from a man who considers a loan of one million dollars which he received from his father years ago as small, “self-made” has a special meaning.
It’s unclear how the fans who love Trump for funding his own campaign will take Trump’s new general election campaign which will be opening wide to funnel in millions from outside donors and SuperPACs. No doubt, these voters will delude themselves by believing that Trump’s shift is just another sign of how good of a businessman he is.
Watch.
