It’s been a bad 2016 for political crazy-man Rush Limbaugh who might be losing everything amid the end of his big payout contract and the loss of many of his sponsors and affiliates.
Earlier this month, we announced that Limbaugh was in dire straights after it was announced that he was getting booted from his long-time radio boss with nowhere to go.
The source of Limbaugh’s problems lie in a successful boycott campaign against the man after he made sexist and derogatory comments about attorney and women rights activist, Sandra Fluke.
“[Fluke] essentially says that she must be paid to have sex—what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.”
After this comment from Limbaugh, 38 percent of talk radio revenue disappeared overnight. Limbaugh’s comments were so poisonous that it even affected other talk-radio hosts who had nothing to do with it.
Limbaugh’s name was ruined and the network which hosted his radio show couldn’t wait to be rid of him. Now they nearly are, and Limbaugh has no idea what his way forward might be.
Limbaugh is just another right-wing casualty whose own line-crossing remarks have stuck in the political consciousness, turning all but the most extreme viewers against the man.
He is joined by Glenn Beck who engages in the same shouting, angry schtick. Like Limbaugh, Beck is struggling to maintain his extremist empire and fired 40 employees from his online network “The Blaze” earlier this month.
Pretty soon, we may finally find ourselves in a golden era of media where the most extreme, hateful right-wingers no longer have a platform with which to spread their message of hate.
