According to a call-out from the Guardian asking American readers to reflect on the race so far – American voters are upset. But they aren’t just upset about a rigged political system and a rigged economic system – they’re upset about what the candidates aren’t talking about. Specifically – readers were asked to identify “the one issue that affects your life you wish the presidential candidates were discussing more” – and one in five readers who responded said that they wish candidates were discussing climate change more. Many readers noted that the Republican debate has only focused on blatant denial and undoing Barack Obama’s attempts to fight global warming. Readers used phrases like “cataclysmic”, “running out of time” “threat to human life” and “slow-motion apocalypse” to describe the climate crisis we’re facing.
