Hillary Clinton recently came out and said that she in fact does support, she is open to supporting the idea of a universal healthcare option in the United States. This is just the latest in her long line of moving into progressive stances on issues including her new found support of a $15 minimum wage. The overall irony here is that she, not necessarily Hillary, but her surrogates, her supporters online were telling the Bernie Sanders supporters a few months ago that they were idiots for wanting a universal healthcare option. They were irrational, they weren’t thinking inside reality, they had lost touch with what is possible in politics and they needed to scale back their vision. Now Hillary Clinton comes out and says that she supports it, can we trust this at all?

The Democratic Party Platform the majority of which were put there by Hillary Clinton has been very conservative on a lot of issues. The environmental, cutting back on carbon, putting a price on carbon, that’s fantastic. The ban on fracking that didn’t make it, that’s disappointing. The universal healthcare option, disappointing. If Hillary Clinton is really moving further to the left, shouldn’t the people representing her in that Democratic National Committee, Platform Committee support those same views? You’d think so, but that’s not what’s happened and that’s why Hillary Clinton is still having huge issues with the American public not trusting her.
