While we may look at the Trump “TP” logo, Trump’s fumbled VP announcement, and Melania’s lifted speech as major gaffes to the campaign, apparently not all of America feels the same.
In just one week, the lead Clinton held over Trump nationally has been slashed, going from a relatively comfortable 15 percent to just 7 percent. Things are still early, and we can expect to see a great deal more fluctuation before this all ends in November, but to see Trump so close to the presidency, even in a poll like this, is horrifying.
The poll was released late Monday evening and was conducted and released by Reuters/Ipsos. The poll surveyed 1,069 voters from July 15-19.
The national poll fond that 43 percent of polled Americans support Hillary Clinton while 36 percent support Trump.
The slip is likely due, in part, to Clinton’s lingering email scandal. When Clinton was cleared of the charges, her poll numbers went down rather than up, likely because many Americans felt that she had committed a crime a deserved punishment.
We can expect to see the political fallout of the RNC this week in full detail in coming polls, and hopefully the horrific public spectacle we’ve been treated to this week will play out in abysmal numbers for the real estate mogul.
