It was apparently not at all surprising for Senator Bernie Sanders to hear the details of the massive DNC email leak which revealed that party officials had decided long ago which candidate they would blatantly support.
Though the writing was on the wall for months, seeing emails detailing plans to sabotage Sanders by drawing attention to his religious beliefs and trying to paint his campaign as disorganized was a shock.
But that was apparently not the case for Sanders who told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday that he was not surprised.
“It’s outrageous, but it’s not a great shock to me.”
Though Sanders did not dwell on the issue during the interview, he did reiterate his call for DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign from her powerful position as the head of the Democratic party.
“I think she should resign. Period. And I think we need a new chair who is going to lead us in a different direction.”
