When Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced she would resign from her position as chair of the Democratic National Committee, she apparently felt absolutely no shame or remorse for the actions which led to her ouster.

This was made evident by comments the former chair made during a reception at the DNC where she told the party insiders that she felt she had “[taken] one for the team.”

“This has been a difficult week. There’s no question about it. And I am so proud of my team, some of whom are here, that put [the convention] together, from the convention team, to the national committee staff, to the volunteers, to our donors. Sometimes you just have to take one for the team. And that’s what happened. It’s OK.”

Rather than take responsibility for her horrific mismanagement and the direct efforts she made to mis-use the party for her own biased wants, Wasserman Schultz paints herself as a hero and a martyr.

This is exactly the issue with the Democratic party that we cannot forget. Wasserman Schultz was just a symptom of the systemic issue and hers will not be the first head to roll in the pursuit of a true progressive party.

Clearly, the woman has learned nothing about the consequences she is facing. Hopefully her loss in her re-election bid in congress will teach her a lesson that this consequence did not.
