While the Koch brothers have vowed to keep their money and influence out of the presidential election, that doesn’t stop them from pouring loads of cash into key races all over the country, including the seat Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is vacating in Nevada.
Reid’s favored replacement, Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto, is the former Nevada Attorney General and noted record for defending women, children, and the elderly.
Cortez Masto’s opponent, Republican congressman Joe Heck, is the Republican boogeyman we all know and despise. He is gun-obsessed, anti-science, and wants to privatize Social Security, just to name a few. In other words, he is everything the Koch brothers know and love, and they are working to get him elected and turn the state red.
The Koch brothers have pledged massive sums to fight against the candidate, pledging over a half million on ads against Cortez Masto for a mere two-day span.
Fighting against the Koch brothers is a hard war to wage, but we hope that Reid’s hopeful successor will not only defeat her Republican opponents, but also take her position in the senate with a progressive and true-liberal agenda.
