…Because Trump still hasn’t spent a dime on TV ads!

Thanks to corporate media’s constant coverage of Donald Trump, and because he has already been a household name for years thanks to his wads of cash and idiotic reality shows, Donald Trump is currently being outspent by even fringe candidates when it comes to the classic television advertisement.

Now that Gary Johnson of the Libertarian party and Jill Stein of the Green party have put up a serious bid for the presidency, they have begun spending campaign funds on national advertisements for television, an important step to legitimize the lesser-known parties.

Of course, neither of the up-and-coming candidates have come anywhere close to the spending of Hillary Clinton (or the various failed Republican candidates), with Clinton having spend about $52 million on TV ads. Johnson has spent about $15,000 while Stein has spend $189,000.

Of course, SuperPACS and other organizations have launched TV ads on behalf of the Trump campaign, spending around $8 million. Trump has also spent a hefty sum of his own money on other campaign expenses, but has avoided TV ads for various undisclosed reasons.

Despite the technicality that establishes this shocking fact, the fact that two candidates outside of the two major parties are taking such a hands-on role in promoting their candidacy is a surprising shift.

Though neither Libertarian or Green has a chance of actually winning the presidency in this election year, they have already had an effect on the outcome of the race by drawing support away from the two main candidates. We can only imagine that fringe candidate support will increase as voters see the popularity for candidates growing by the day.

Is this the slow beginning of the end for the two-party system? Time will tell.
