The historic unfavorability of Donald Trump has many GOP-ers all over the nation concerned about their own political offices and current polls show that they are worried for good reason. In previously deep red states, polls show that they could soon turn a bright shade of blue.
One of the most notable shifts could come from North Carolina, the state that managed to elect a bigoted Republican Governor Pat McCrory who instituted the infamous bathroom law barring trans men and women from using the facility that is safest for them.
While Trump’s numbers in the state are plummeting, so are those from downballot Republicans in danger of losing their seat.
Two-term Republican Senator Richard Burr felt awfully cozy in his red state before Trump’s rein of destruction left him two points behind his Democratic opponent Deborah Ross. Burr’s extremist political history has left him vulnerable to his constituency who see the man’s similarities to the Republican nominee and are not at all pleased.
Even Governor McCrory might be on his way out after the bathroom bill . His racist, discriminatory voting laws which were struck down last month did not help his chances either, and we can only hope that we see the end of his political career in the same moment we see Trump’s.
Other notable red states turning blue include Georgia and even Utah, with several other formerly swing states appearing firmly blue as well. At this point in the race, it would not be a shock to see Trump turning up with as small as 35% of the vote, making the race the biggest blowout in recent history.
Yes, though Trump has been an unending, national disaster, we see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it shines in a bright, blinding blue.
