May we remember the election season by this moment, and not so many deplorable others.

Regular old citizens aren’t the only ones who have to wake up early and head to the polls on Tuesday – the presidential candidates also went to their registered polling locations in the towns they reside in to cast their votes.

As Hillary Clinton cast her vote in Chappaqua, New York, she was met with cheers from admirers who were eager to observe the historic moment of a female presidential candidate voting for herself in a general election on the day she is likely to become our first female president. Speaking to reporters afterwards, Clinton reflected, saying the feeling was incredibly humbling.

Meanwhile in New York City, Donald Trump arrived under heavy security at his polling location where he was met with the boos and jeers (and scattered cheers) of passers-by. The mood was entirely different as Trump slinked into his location – likely the first time he’s ever stepped foot into a public school building. Upon leaving, that same jeering crowd made clear their view of the candidate. Trump didn’t take time to pose for photos or greet his possible future constituents. Instead, he climbed back in his vehicle and headed back to the glittering halls of his hotel.

Though Trump enjoys overwhelming support from many groups in the United States, the reception of each candidate – we believe – is how the nation as a whole will receive each when the polling results begin rolling in.

Watch.
