Here’s a little bit of good news for your Monday afternoon:
Florida Governor Rick Scott told reporters today that he does not plan on taking a position in Trump’s administration, despite their cozy dealings during the election.
In the past two weeks, President-elect Donald Trump has been busy trying to assemble as many walking, talking, breathing humans he can find to be in the multitude of cabinet positions he now has to fill. At this point, if you wander into Trump tower in a tie, you’ll likely be made Secretary of Education.
Nevertheless, Florida Governor Scott is not to be one of those lucky white men to keep Trump company for the next four years (or however long he is in office before he is inevitably impeached and we are stuck with Film Noir villain Mike Pence).
CNN Associate Producer Julia Manchester reported the news, saying that Scott indicated that he does not “plan” on working with Trump in a formal manner.

It’s unclear whether Scott’s statement means that he was not offered a position, or if he turned down one, but my vote is on the latter.
After all, Scott was deeply in Trump’s pocket from the start – we even reported at one point that Scott was being considered for Trump’s V.P., long before Pence came along.
How could he turn his buddy down?
But then again, Scott does have a pretty sweet gig reigning over the absolutely insane puddle of crazy that is Florida, and taking a spot in Trump’s administration would mean that someone else would have the unbridled honor of riding that hot state off into Armageddon.
Of course, as Scott said back when he was asked about being Trump’s V.P., “I like my job. I worked hard to get this job. I’m going to stay in this job.”
So sorry, Florida. You were this close to losing your reptilian leader. Guess you’ll have to try again in 2018!
