Glad we’ve got out-of-touch-in-chief weighing in on the party he helped to destroy right as he’s abandoning it!
Echoing the sentiment shared by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi last week, retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said that he didn’t think the state of the Democratic party was all that bad. Just like Pelosi, Reid proved just how clueless he really is, and why we are extremely grateful to see the back of him in politics for good.
During an interview with Politico on Wednesday, Reid shared his unique (and skewed) view of the liberal party.
“They have Trump, I understand that. But I don’t think the Democratic Party is in that big of trouble.”
Just like Pelosi, Reid also offered an off-the-wall suggestion for why the Democrats lost the election to the worst candidate ever offered up for the presidency. But unlike Pelosi who suggested the party needed to spread their message to the white, working-class, Reid blamed Clinton’s loss on one person: FBI director James Comey.
Of course, Comey’s irresponsible release of false information pertaining to Clinton’s email scandal no doubt inflamed tensions, but to suggest that one singular event toppled Clinton’s presidential ambitions is naive.
“I mean, if Comey kept his mouth shut, we would have picked up a couple more Senate seats and we probably would have elected Hillary.”
The one silver lining is this: unlike Pelosi whom we are stuck with for the forseeable future, Reid is on his way out of politics. Here’s to hoping that Chuck Schumer will prove to be a more representative and eyes-wide-open leader than his predecessor.
