Now that General Michael Flynn has resigned from his position as National Security Adviser, the scandal surrounding him is likely to grow, rather than wither.

Flynn was forced to resign after a story broke on multiple outlets during the latter half of last week alleging that Flynn had shared confidential information with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. The White House sat on the information for quite some time, with Trump telling reporters he was not familiar with the scandal an entire 48 hours after it had initially broken – an outright lie.

Even now, Flynn has not been fired by the Trump administration, but has rather resigned – or as Russia Today falsely tweeted – has “retired.”

Unfortunately for the Trump administration, this story is truly only just beginning. Though the story of his Russian oversharing was a scandal, the real scandal is that acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates, the same woman who defied Trump’s Muslim ban, tried and failed to warn the Trump administration of his vulnerability to Russian blackmail.

From the Washington Post:

“The acting attorney general informed the Trump White House late last month that she believed Michael Flynn had misled senior administration officials about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States, and warned that the national security adviser was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail, current and former U.S. officials said.”

If this is indeed true as it appears to be, why didn’t Trump or anyone else do anything about Flynn? And did this have anything to do with Yates’ firing weeks ago? We all knew she publicly opposed his Muslim ban, but did they also want her out of the way

Many suspect that both the President and Vice President knew exactly what Flynn was doing – and may have even directed him to hand over information to the ambassador. These are all questions that need close investigation.

Now, the White House will try to sweep the scandal under the rug, saying that now Flynn is out, the narrative is over. They’re wrong. There needs to be a full investigation into what the President knew, and when – ASAP.
