Engaging in a popular political tactic of the modern era, President Donald Trump would rather not talk about the elephant scandal in the room and instead is choosing to be selectively outraged at another element – the leaks that led to Flynn’s ouster.

After another bombshell report was revealed by Washington Post and New York Times Tuesday evening, many waited to see what Trump would say – or tweet – the following morning. The reports claimed that many in the Trump camp were in contact with Russian officials long before voting day, and, as other reports have said, that he and the rest of his administration knew what Flynn was doing when he spoke with the Russian ambassador and might have even ordered the conversation to take place.

But as most could expect, Trump didn’t own up to the allegations made in those articles, nor did he refute anything. Instead, he focused his attention on a new enemy, those in his midst that leaked this information to the press.

It’s a clear fact that there are agents inside of the White House who are actively working to reveal secret information from inside the Trump Administration to the public. While leaking government secrets is a big no-no, the fact is that we don’t need to worry about the messenger, but the message.

Trump is hoping that you will ignore the substance of these reports in favor of being angry that someone would dare share his information with the press. While some no doubt will fall in this trap, those of us paying attention will pay no mind.
