White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer does not have an enviable job, having to stand before the press and lie, lie, lie about the latest scandal in the White House or Congress.
Today, that undesirable job included lying to the press about the failing Obamacare replacement, the American Health Care Act as he repeatedly ignored growing dissent and said that the bill, as written, would absolutely pass.
Spicer was asked more than once by inquiring reporters whether or not the President or GOP leadership had considered a next step in regards to their healthcare bill, especially because Spicer had previously said that the AHCA was the only plan the GOP was considering.
Now that dozens of Republicans have come out against the bill and it appears likely to die on the House floor Thursday evening, Reporters wanted to know: was the President now considering a plan b?
According to Spicer? no way, no how.
“Is there any sort of plan if the bill does not pass tonight?” a reporter asked.
Without even considering the question, Spicer was ready to respond:
“No, it’s going to pass. So that’s it.”
When CNN’s Halle Jackson asked a similar question later, Spicer reiterated that there is only “plan A.”
Basically, Spicer and the GOP are so committed, so bull-headed regarding their incomplete disaster of a healthcare bill that they refuse to even take a second look. Spicer is playing the part of Veruka Salt, and he’s going to have his goose to lay golden eggs, damnit.
