Since failed presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson signed on to his second career as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, the public at-large hasn’t heard much from the sleepy politician.

But apparently, while we’ve all been looking elsewhere, Carson has been as bumbling and snoozing as ever, and even managed to get himself stuck in a Miami elevator on Tuesday because of course he did.

Carson was touring an affordable housing complex in Overtown, a neighborhood in Miami, when he was trapped in the elevator. Carson was accompanied by NBA star Alonzo Mourning who, somehow, was not in the elevator at the time it became stuck. Carson was accompanied during his 20 minute unplanned elevator trip by his wife, Candy.

Mourning waited outside for the 20 minutes it took to free Carson.

Secretary Carson has not responded to requests for comment from any outlets, but he did share a photo of his meeting with Mourning on social media shortly after the incident, omitting the 20-minute hiccup.

Obviously, being stuck in an elevator is no fun, and it probably could have happened to anyone, but isn’t it just hilarious that it happened to happen to Ben Carson? After all, he was the politician who couldn’t manage to properly enter the stage for a debate, causing a hilarious political traffic jam.

I am glad that the Secretary emerged from the likely scary situation unharmed, but now that we know he is safe, I’m going to spend the rest of the day imagining how Ben Carson handles being stuck in an elevator.
