You know things are bad when even Fox News isn’t siding with the GOP candidate. Then again, it takes a particularly bad person to look unjust violence in the face and pretend it never happened.
On Wednesday evening, the news and media world was rocked when a congressional candidate in a Montana special election lashed out in violence at a reporter from the Guardian, bodyslamming him and breaking his glasses for asking a question.
Immediately, the candidate, Greg Gianforte, provided a conflicting report of the clash, knowing that no video existed of the attack. Unfortunately for Gianforte, the man he assaulted, Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs, had audio of the entire event. What Jacobs also had was the account from nearby Fox reporters, as well as host of other reporters standing in the next room.
Thankfully, the Fox reporters cast aside their party loyalty to conflict with Gianforte’s false account and share their real account of what had happened to a fellow reporter.

Acuna’s report differs significantly from what Gianforte’s team claimed took place, namely that Gianforte instigated the attack and that Jacobs played no part in the violent escalation.
Thanks to reports like these, Gianforte has been charged with misdemeanor assault, but unfortunately, thanks to the deep red county and a glut of early votes, Gianforte is still heavily favored to win the seat.
If Gianforte refuses to resign, the House will have no recourse other than to allow him to take his seat in the legislative body.
