Representative Michael Grimm is getting desperate. Following this week’s State of the Union Address, Grimm let slip his violent side and threatened NY1 reporter Michael Scotto.
After a comparatively mundane interview, the reporter went on to ask Grimm an additional question. Grimm was having none of it.
“I’m not talking about anything that is off-topic. This is only about the president,” he said and walked off camera.
Scotto finished the interview and while the camera was still on, Grimm walked back into frame and made his threat.
“Let me be clear to you. If you ever do that to me again I’ll throw you off this f—ing balcony.”
Scotto insisted that the question was legitimate and Grimm has since apologized claiming that he did overreact.
“No, No. You’re not man enough, you’re not man enough. I’ll break you in half. Like a boy,” Grimm finished to Scotto.
Scotto was inquiring about the ongoing investigation into possible fundraising violations that took place during Grimm’s 2010 election campaign. The FBI has charged Diana Durand for the use of straw donors to exceed the maximum allowable campaign contribution limit. She reportedly offered to reimburse friends if they contributed to Grimm’s campaign.
To date, Grimm has not been charged with any crimes associated with his 2010 campaign.
