House Republicans met with former Vice President Dick Cheney to get his input about what to do about ISIS, which is like asking the CEO of McDonald’s for nutrition advice. This meeting really upset Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), and the senior Democrat had some choice words for House Republicans, reported The Hill.
“Former Vice President Cheney was here yesterday giving the Republicans a pep talk,” said Reid. “Please, taking advice on foreign policy from Dick Cheney? That’s a terrifying prospect. We should be learning from our past mistakes, not repeating them.”
Since Cheney was the leader of, as Reid said, “the worst foreign policy decision in the history of the country,” Republicans going back to the well of shoddy policy and violence is “terrifying” indeed.
“The Bush-Cheney strategy of rushing into conflict doesn’t work. It didn’t work then and it won’t work now. Let’s be cautious,” continued Reid.
Cheney’s move come as isolationist ideologies have slowly begun to spread in the Republican party, and Cheney is trying to snuff them. It’s no secret that American citizens, let alone the troops, are war-weary, but Cheney just won’t quit. What do you expect from someone without a real, human heart?
