Some think that Elizabeth Warren may have changed her mind about potentially running for the White House in 2016. In a recent interview with People, she made some comments that has the pro-Warren internet buzzing with hope.
During the interview, Warren is asked whether she is “on board” for a 2016 run. Warren’s response, with a wrinkled nose: “I don’t think so. If there’s any lesson I’ve learned in the last five years, it’s don’t be so sure about what lies ahead. There are amazing doors that could open.” Sounds promising enough for those of us who should be so lucky to have Warren run for president.
However, the interview further noted that “she just doesn’t see the door of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue being one of them.”
Now, we won’t goes as far as others who believe this interview is a veiled, positive assertion that Warren will, in fact, run. However, the fact that this denial of running seems a little more tentative does give the air that Warren, more so than not, might charge for the White House.
There is still the issue of the Ready for Warren PAC. In August, an attorney on behalf of Warren formally disavowed the PAC to the Federal Elections Commission. According to the letter, “The senator has not, and does not, explicitly or implicitly, authorize, endorse, or otherwise approve of the organization’s activities.”
That’s quite a bold statement. Not to mention how staunchly Warren herself has announced that she wasn’t going to run: “I’m not running for president. . . I am not running for president. Do you want to put an exclamation point at the end of that?”
There are some perceived mixed signals regarding Warren’s running for president. She and members of her camp have said sturdily that she was not running. But there are instances that could allude to the opposite. However, it could be that all this Warren-for-president hoopla was imagined by political internet bloggers with enough sense to know a strong, godsend of a presidential candidate when they see one.
