So far in the Republican primary season, we’ve seen Newt Gingrich call Obama the food stamp president, Rick Perry called Social Security a Ponzi scheme, and all sorts of other racially-based attacks on the 99% of Americans who aren’t wealthy enough to be Republicans. But these attacks have one thing in common – they all come back to the Republican efforts to destroy welfare, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. They’re hiding these efforts in their racially charged rhetoric in an attempt to paint these programs as catering to lazy minorities who refuse to work as long as the government is giving them free handouts.
