The panel on Morning Joe was discussing the racist Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) video and came to the conclusion that rap music was to blame, reported Mediaite.
The panel, consisting of Joe Scarborough, Iraq War hawk Bill Kristol, and co-host Mika Brzezinski, entertained the insane idea that black culture and rap music contributed to the racist SAE chant video, namely rapper Waka Flocka Flame. The discussion was in response to Waka Flocka Flame’s “disgust” with the SAE video.
“If you look at every single song, I guess you call these, that he’s written, it’s a bunch of garbage,” said Brzezinski. “It’s full of n-words, it’s full of f-words. It’s wrong. And he shouldn’t be disgusted with them, he should be disgusted with himself.”
“Popular culture becomes a cesspool, a lot of corporations profit off of it, and then people are surprised that some drunk 19-year-old kids repeat what they’re hearing,” said Kristol. Tipper Gore “tried to raise this issue, and was widely ridiculed.”
“The kids that are buying hip hop or gangsta rap, it’s a white audience, and they hear this over and over again,” said Scarborough. “So do they hear this at home? Well, chances are good, no, they heard a lot of this from guys like this who are now acting shocked.”
The content of this conversation is mind-numbing, and to think rap music is to blame for the SAE video is severely misguided. Racism was around long-before a bunch of University of Oklahoma students filmed a video of themselves making racist chants and long-before rap music.
