Despite constant attempts to outlaw abortion – even including in cases of rape and incest, refusing to pass any form of equal pay legislation, and the attacks on access to birth control, the Conservative group Concerned Women for America has declared that the “war on women” is over, The Daily Beast reported.
“What doe most women do every week?” GOP strategist Kellyanne Conway asked those in attendance. “Do they fill up the gas tank and the grocery cart? Or do they get an abortion?”
Somehow the fact that women aren’t rushing out to get abortions on a weekly basis is supposed to be proof that the GOP won?
“The notion that we can’t think of anything other than from the waist down is congenitally flawed,” continued Conway, blaming the “war” on Democrats for giving attention to comments made by Republican politicians, such as Todd Akin’s “legitimate rape” and Richard Mourdock’s notion that pregnancies as a result of rape were “something God intended.”
On a recent episode of MSNBC’s Up with Steve Kornacki, guest host Jonathan Capeheart was joined by a panel of women, including National Organization of Women President Terry O’Neill, to discuss whether the fighting is really over or if more battles of of the sexes can be expected.
