Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback’s (R) ultra-conservative approach to fixing his state’s economy has only destroyed it even more, reported Addicting Info.
The U.S. Census Bureau found that the state of Kansas has experienced “the third largest drop in state tax revenue” in America. Historically, Kansas enjoys positive tax growth, but Brownback’s new tax policies have decimated the state’s growth.
Brownback’s changes include cutting taxes for the wealthy, cutting the education budget to make up for the state’s economic shortfall, and Republicans support a measure to increase sales tax. These new policies are shifting a larger tax burden onto the lower class. What’s worse, some Kansas schools are too broke to stay open for an entire school year.
As Ring of Fire has reported, “the bottom 20 percent of earners pay 11.1 percent of their income in local, state, and sales taxes. Comparatively, the top one percent of earners in Kansas only pay 3.6 percent of its income.”
Brownback only benefits the wealthy and harms the poor and working class. He recently signed a bill into law that bans people who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families from withdrawing more than $25 of aid funds from an ATM at one time.
“By signing this bill into law, Gov. Brownback has added to the burden that the poorest Kansans already carry,” said Kansas Action for Children president Shannon Cotsoradis. “It’s always been hard to be poor in Kansas. Now, it’s going to be a lot harder.”
Brownback is evil. He doesn’t care about poor people. He only cares about the rich people and companies who will give him money. Kansas is the seventh level of Tea Party hell, and Brownback is its Satan.
