“Here’s the thing: in today’s Republican Party, you can’t call out nutty people for being nutty, because they’re not a small group,” said Maher. “In the Republican Party, crazy is a constituency.”
Maher was addressing the growing trend of Republican candidates pandering to what was once thought to be just a minority of the party. Instead of the far-right whackos being a small but vocal minority of the party, it appears that they are the party.
He focused on Rand Paul sacrificing his Libertarian roots.
“The Mayweather fight was boring, but at least it lasted 12-rounds,” Maher said. “The establishment made Rand Paul its bitch at the weigh-in.”
He called Paul out for giving into Texas-Whacko insanity surrounding Jade Helm 15, the military training exercise that has been spun as a potential government takeover by conservatives.
