While speaking recently at the Institute for New Economic Thinking Finance and Society Conference, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said that if big banks were allowed to keep their influence over politics, “…they will own both our economy and our democracy.”
“It is time for the Justice Department and the [Securities and Exchange Commission] to get serious about enforcing our laws about financial fraud,” Warren said.
She called former Attorney General Eric Holder’s treatment of big banks what it really was: a “get-out-of-jail-free card for the biggest corporations in the world.”
