At a recent panel discussion at Georgetown University, President Obama discussed the tragedy of systemic economic inequality and the relationship it has to personal responsibility. Of course, Fox News and other outlets decided to focus on one comment President Obama made about the news outlets perpetuating a narrative of the poor as leeches, rather than the much more interesting and meaningful comments he made about what we can do as a nation and what we can do as individual’s to combat poverty in America.
