Presidential candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee made a speech last week and said he wishes he could have posed as a transgender person to “shower with the girl” in high school. Huckabee is standing by that claim, reported Talking Points Memo.

“I take nothing back from that speech,” Huckabee told Iowa-based conservative radio host Steve Deace. “I’m kind of glad it’s posted because people – if they watch the whole clip – what they’re going to see is that I’m giving a common sense answer to the insanity that’s going on out there.”

The only insanity going on is that Huckabee thinks he can just say he “feels like woman” and shower with whichever female he wants.

Huckabee made the statement while speaking at the 2015 National Religious Broadcasters Convention earlier this year while talking about LGBT rights.

“Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE,” said Huckabee. “I’m pretty sure that I would have have found my feminine side and said, ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’”

Huckabee blamed political correctness for the backlash after making light of a serious issue while alluding to his own perverted thoughts.

“Everybody wants to be politically correct, everybody wants to be loved by the media and loved by the left and loved by the elitists,” said Huckabee to Deace. “But, you know, I know I’m not going to be, so let’s just get it over with.”

Listen to Huckabee double down on wanting to “shower with the girls.”
