A Texas woman who claimed to have been beaten up by three black men at a Walmart was found to have been lying about the incident, reported Gawker.
The liar, Ashley Casey Martin, posted a status update on Facebook that read, ”Just got jumped by 3 African Americans ourside [sic] of the as Walmart they are in a white ford 150 extended cab. Arkansas tags. They hit me inside Walmart and were cussing. I was very polite and asked them to lower their voices and the cuss words in front of my 3 year old daughter and this is the outcome. What has the world come to…”
She also posted photos of her face with two black eyes and a bloody nose. The facial injuries were obviously fake and drawn on with makeup. People on the internet took notice of the fake injuries, and Texarkana Police investigated. According to a Facebook statement, that was later deleted, the department said “the injuries . . . are highly questionable.”
The Texarkana police were asked by the Daily Dot why their Facebook post was deleted.
“We were informed that she is emotionally disturbed,” said the police. “We have removed the post to avoid contributing to her difficult struggle.”
Martin later doubled down on her lie, saying the incident really occurred. She posted this before deleting all of her social media accounts.
Here is your police report. Sorry I got jumped by three African American young men. I have 2 black eyes and nose still is bleeding, and somehow I am in the wrong. Enough for people to say it was makeup, how embarrassing and very rude quite frankly. I don’t want you pitty (sic) attention anything. I’m just warning there are dangerous people in Texarkana be careful. They did this to me for no reason in front of my 3 year old. At Texas side Walmart.
The Charleston shooting has brought out the racist in many people. Over the weekend, a Texas firefighter posted on Facebook that shooter Dylann Roof “needs to be praised” for his “good deed.” He was immediately released from his volunteer position as a firefighter.
