Bernie Sanders will not muddle his words. It is time to take down the Confederate flag. It is long past time to take down that relic of oppression and degradation of black Americans.
“While we have made significant progress,” Bernie Sanders said. “The events of last week remind us of how far we yet have to go in order to create a non-racist society.”
Bernie Sanders joins a growing cry to remove the Confederate flag from state houses.
“That flag is a relic of our nation’s stained racial history,” Mr. Sanders continued. “It should come down.”
Those opposing the idea that the flag should be removed deny that the flag represents the hatred of black Americans. Their opinion is, sadly, lacking in historical evidence.
“Frankly, the Confederate flag does not belong on state house grounds, it belongs in a museum,” said Sanders.
