In a huge twist of irony, it turns out that Donald Trump’s empire was built on the backs of countless undocumented immigrants. An unapologetic capitalist, Trump surely wasn’t complaining about the cheap labor that usually comes with hiring undocumented immigrants.
Despite Trump’s claim that Hispanic immigrants are rapists who bring crime to America, many of the immigrants that are building Trump’s newest hotel in Washington D.C. are honest people looking for a better life. “The majority of us [workers] are Hispanics, many who came illegally,” said Ivan Arellano, who obtained legal status through marriage. “And we’re all here working very hard to build a better life for our families.”
At this point, we can all agree that Trump is a walking disaster with rocks in his head. He’s a caricature, a media personality who no one takes seriously. The Washington Post noted that many of the workers at Trump’s D.C. hotel are from Central America who immigrated to escape the region’s endless violence. The American Dream is their goal, not spreading crime.
Honest living and a strong work ethic have allowed many workers to buy homes and raise American-born children. Naturally, many of the workers became angry when Trump made his racist comments about Hispanic immigrants.
“Do you think that when we’re hanging out there from the eighth floor that we’re raping or selling drugs?” said Ramon Alvarez, another worker building Trump’s hotel. “We’re risking our lives and our health. A lot of the chemicals we deal with are toxic.”
Donald Trump is the perfect example of what America doesn’t need, now or ever. What else can be said about Trump and his mindless rhetoric that hasn’t already been? He’s nothing but a loud-mouthed buffoon.
