Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson appeared on a conservative talk radio show and expressed his craziest sentiment yet. He told host Jan Mickelson that Planned Parenthood was created for ethnic cleansing.
Carson’s outrageous, and debunked, claim was a response to President Barack Obama saying “God bless you” during an address to Planned Parenthood. “You wonder if he actually knows the history of Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger, who was trying to eliminate black people,” said Carson. “That was the whole purpose of it.”
Carson continued saying that Planned Parenthood should be defunded and that abortion should be completely banned. With insane, over-the-top rhetoric, Carson said “If we can’t defund Planned Parenthood, . . . we’re lost, we’re just in the wilderness forever. This is the smoking gun. We’ve always known the kind of organization this is and how anti-life they are.”
By evangelical Republican standards, even Carson is a little kooky. In his mind, Planned Parenthood means America’s downfall and the elimination of black people. It’s total nonsense. Like same-sex marriage, Planned Parenthood isn’t going to prompt the end times or kill an entire group of people.
