An autopsy report determined that Sandra Bland committed suicide while in police custody. During her detainment, Bland answered a battery of questions and stated that she suffered from depression and has had suicidal thoughts within the last year. Neglectfully, the police didn’t put Bland on suicide watch and she later killed herself.
Sheriff David Clarke of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office appeared on The Kelly File and attacked Bland, saying she was “loaded for bear.” He implied that Bland was responsible for her own death. This is wrong. Had the arresting officer not escalated the situation, Bland would still be alive.
