How can’t you love Elizabeth Warren? She stands up to political corruption, corporate greed, unfettered capitalism, economic inequality, and the rights of people not lucky enough to be the 1%. She is not a politician who talks a good game, yet does nothing. Instead, she is all action. Elizabeth once again proved yesterday why we at ROF love her.
Senate Democrats yesterday blocked the GOP effort to revoke federal funding for Planned Parenthood. The Senate bill, sponsored by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, was blocked by a vote of 53 to 46. The legislation was allegedly in response to a series of undercover videos produced by anti-abortion activists who claim Planned Parenthood is selling fetal tissue to researchers.
“This is the beginning of the fight to regain America’s conscience,” said Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas. Elizabeth Warren refused to sit quietly. Instead, she asserted that the GOP’s attempt to block funding to Planned Parenthood was “not some sort of surprised response to a highly-edited video,” but “just one more piece of a deliberate methodical, orchestrated right-wing attack” on women’s health care. “I’m sick and tired of it,” she said. “The American people are sick and tired of it.”
Elizabeth led the charge to make sure the GOP’s latest attempt to overturn Roe v. Wade failed.
